First Steps

Once you have decided to establish your own allied health practice, there are three key things that you will need to do...

1. Get An ABN

If you are planning to run your business as a sole trader, rather than a company, you will need to get an ABN.  An ABN is a unique 11 digit number that identifies your business to the government and community.

Once you apply you will:

  • receive your ABN immediately
  • be able to apply for other business registrations, such as GST
  • added to the Australian Business Register (ABR).

2. Create Buisiness Name

This is a tough one and so incredibly important! Choosing a name for your business is one of the first things you need to do when setting up your practice. Keep it on point, don't use acronyms, and make it memorable.

This article takes you through a process you can follow to come up with the perfect name.

3. Register Business Name
